15 Spectacular Skateboarding Gifts

I remember skaters riding their boards to highschool during the warm weather. They were the same guys that would be surfing at the beach during the summer. I guess it’s all about the balance. Of course, nowadays skateboards have better technology. You can find motorized boards or add lights. There are also skateparks all over the country. If you know someone who loves skateboarding, these skateboarding gifts are for them. Whether they are beginners or have been at it for a while, this wide range of presents will satisfy your gift giving needs.

It doesn’t matter who you are. These gifts are cool, even if you are not a skater. I always find it amazing what people can make from old stuff. There are not only stools, but clocks, and other items to choose from. You can decorate their entire home with things made from recycled skateboards.

You can even give them one of these unique tables.

For more repurposed skateboard gear, check out these guitars and chess sets. You can even get a watch or sunglasses made from old boards!

2. Skate Wax

Friction slows skaters down when sliding on rails. Skate wax will help reduce friction and fits perfectly in a Christmas stocking.

They can use a skate tool to make adjustments or add hardware to their board. This is like a Swiss army knife for skateboarders.

While experienced skateboarders will want to choose their own wheels, they are always in need of extra bearings.

Are you still in doubt as to what to get for someone who likes to skateboard? A gift card will let them choose what accessories they need, or allow them to get that new board they had their eye on. Gift cards are notoriously good stocking gifts, especially for teens who are particular about gifts.

3. Skate Trainer

While older folks probably won’t need these while learning tricks, they are good gifts for younger skateboarders. These keep the wheels in place while they are learning a new stunt.

A pogo ball works like a pogo stick, but there is nothing to hold onto. These help them improve balance and jumps. Plus, it is just fun.

If there are no skateparks nearby, turn their back yard into a skate park by adding some ramps and skate rails.

4. Action Camera

Speaking of starring in their own video, they can have their 15 minutes of fame on YouTube. These cameras are meant for recording action. They can have a friend record their stunt to edit and upload later.

For those who insist on filming their stunts from their own perspective, you can give them a Gopro camera. Some of these come with mounts for their helmet, but if not, you can get them GoPro adhesive mounts. These stick onto their hemet to hold the camera in place. These are good for people who have already mastered tricks. You don’t want to get this for a novice, as they risk damaging the camera in a fall.

5. Electric Skateboard

While serious skateboarders will want to pick out their own board, there are alternative gifts you can get for them. If they are using a skateboard to get around town, you can get them an electric board. This will get them there faster than pure foot power.

You could also get them a longboard. These are about ten inches longer than an average board. Another option is a ripstick. My son has one of these, and while he was never a huge skater, he still uses this to get around at college.

For someone’s first skateboard you can get a personalized skateboard with their name. However, if they’ve been riding awhile, they will have a preference for the style and design they want.

6. Knee Pads

While a lot of teens and adults will think they are too cool for padding, these are necessities for younger kids. Padding makes great gifts for those just starting out to protect during falls.

A helmet is the law for bikes, scooters, and skateboards in many places in the U.S. for kids under the age of 16. And of course, the reason is because pavement coming into contact with a skull is never a good thing. Make sure they have well fitting protective gear.

Teens and adults that wear protective gear for advanced tricks on their boards will probably want to choose their gear themselves. However, if you know someone who consistently falls while practicing tricks, you may want to get them padded shorts as a funny skateboarding gift.

7. Skateboard Tricks Book

To learn some tricks, tips, and advice, choose from a wide selection of books about skateboarding.

Looking for skateboarding gifts for adults? Get them a coffee table skateboard book filled with cool photographs. It will be a good conversation piece to have on display in the home.

You can also pick up some copies of Thrasher, the top magazine for skateboarders, to keep them up to date with the latest skateboarding news and events..

8. Skateboard Backpack

All skateboarders need a place to keep their board when not in use. Get them a backpack to lug gear to and from school or work that has straps for securing their skateboard. This way their hands are free for other things.

Then, for the home, you can either get them a wall rack or a skateboard stand, so their board isn’t just lying around. Wall racks are especially good if there are several skaters in the house. Most come with spots for more than one board and often have ways to hang helmets too.

You might want to take a look at gifts for lovers of other sports too!

Wondering what to get a boy who likes to skateboard? When they can’t actually get out on their board, kids can have fun with fingerboards while indoors. These fingerboard parks come with all sorts of accessories like scooters, fingerboards, even bikes.

Or get them a new fingerboard if theirs is worn out. Maybe they just need to add some more fingerboard obstacles to their skatepark.

10. Skateboard Lights

Colorful lights will look cool, but also help cars see them coming at night. Plus the lights will help them see where they are going to avoid collisions.

If their board isn’t all decked out, they can add style with some decorative stickers. These can also be used for laptops, tablets, and phones.

You can also get them a bluetooth beanie for listening to their favorite playlists while skating. They will feel like they are starring in their own video.

11. Skater Girl T-shirt

Get a skater girl some cute t-shirts to show off her love for the sport. T-shirts are comfortable and breathable to wear while skateboarding.

If she wears jewelry, you can choose a stylish skateboard bracelet and earrings. Some of these are even created from recycled skateboards.

Or you can get her a rad travel cosmetics case with a funky design. Give her a surprise. Get some jewelry for her to find when she opens the bag.

While I normally don’t recommend footwear, these cool designs will be a hit even if they don’t wear the shoes while skating.

You can also give them some cool graphic t-shirts to wear.

Other things they will need while skating are a hydro flask to keep up their water intake and some polarized sunglasses to protect their eyes.

13. Grip Tape

While not an exciting gift for the giver, the skateboarder will be very grateful. Grip tape is what helps shoes grip the board. This gets worn out and needs to be replaced to provide traction.

You can also get them some grip tape cleaner to keep their board fresh.

For those who want to decorate their own board, you can opt for some acrylic paint pens. While this is a fun idea for creative types, I don’t recommend expecting to be able to use these pens on other surfaces. The sandpaper quality of the grip tape will eventually ruin the pen tips. So if they want to decorate other objects as well, it is best to get them two sets of pens.

Or to simplify things, you can get grip tape with a design already on it.

14. Tony Hawk Video Game

They can’t always be skating. For times when they are stuck indoors, give them a skateboarding video game. Just make sure to get one for the gaming system they have. My son had hours of fun playing a Tony Hawk game on his Nintendo DS when he was little. It filled time on long car rides. Plus a video game might give them ideas for stunts.

To add to the skater aura of their room, give them a skater LED lamp. You can also choose some cool wall art made from skateboards.

15. Cushion Insoles

Skateboarding really wears out skaters’ shoes. While they probably want to choose footwear themselves, insoles make a great gift to make shoes more comfortable. Again, this doesn’t seem like an exciting gift, but it will be appreciated by skaters.

You can also get them some shoe goo to repair shoes, therefore extending the life of their favorite footwear.

And they will always need socks. Get them some with a cool design.
