My son started doing headstands in my rocking chair when he was two years old. As soon as he turned three I signed him up for gymnastics. This way he would learn the proper way to do stunts and prevent breaking his neck. He continued for several years until his gymnastics academy closed down. Then he switched to martial arts. If you know someone like him that lives for hanging upside down, doing flips, and cartwheeling around the house, they will flip for these gymnastic gifts.
While many of these gifts are geared towards females, I have tried to point out gifts that are for male gymnasts as well.
1. Folding Balance Beam
Best gymnastics gifts
These gifts are great for practicing at home and are good gifts for male gymnasts too. These balance beams fold away so they can be easily stored when not in use.
A horizontal bar for the home is great for younger kids, but some can even hold more than two hundred pounds of weight.
A stretch band is great for improving flexibility in dancers, cheerleaders, and gymnasts. These can be used by both kids and adults.
2. Gymnastics Barbie
Gymnastic gifts for 7 year olds
Girls this age love dolls. And why not? They can combine their love of gymnastics with their infatuation with Barbie and create their own olympics, if they collect them all. Now we know Barbie’s secret for staying in shape all these years!
18” doll gymnastics outfits make good gifts for girls who have American Girl dolls or similar 18” dolls. There is a wide selection of outfits to choose from. If they don’t already have one, you can get them an 18” doll as an additional gift.
For girls who like building blocks, choose from several Lego gymnastic sets from the Lego Friends collection. She won’t realize it, but those bricks will improve spatial reasoning, which will actually help her gymnastics skills.
3. Gymnastics Popsocket
Gymnastics presents for teens
Teens are usually glued to their phones. Give them a gymnastics popsocket to prop up their phone so they can watch replays of their gymnastic feats.
You can also get them a gymnastics phone case as an extension of their personality. Some even allow for customization with her name. Just make sure you get one compatible with her current phone.
For further customization, get them stickers for their laptop or tablet. These vinyl, waterproof stickers can be used to decorate skateboards, walls, or lunch boxes as well.
4. Custom Warm-Up Jacket
What do you get a girl that likes gymnastics?
Wondering what else to get? You don’t want her muscles tensing up in the cold after a workout. Get her a warm-up jacket personalized with her name.
For practice at home, get her a balance board. This is great exercise for adults, kids, males, and females. It helps improve muscle tone as well as balance. Plus it is a piece of equipment that doesn’t need much space, so it is practical even in a small apartment. I want to get one to use while standing at my desk.
However, if you have a large enough yard, you can get them a trampoline to practice on. Besides, this is a great activity to do with friends or to let off steam as a homework break. Many of my neighbors have these, even if their kids don’t do gymnastics. I hear boys and girls bouncing around after school whenever the weather is nice.
5. Party Decorations
Gymnastics party
Elementary school kids love themed birthday parties. Most gymnastics schools offer birthday parties on their premises. However, you will most likely still need to bring your own decorations. You can get balloons, tablecloths, paper goods, and more.
You will also want to get some gymnastics themed party favors and bags to give out to the guests.
And let’s not forget the gymnastics invitations. This way they know what type of party it will be.
6. Ninja Course
Gymnastics gifts for 8 year olds
This is a great gift for boys and girls who have outdoor space. It will help build upper arm strength and agility. In addition they can practice gymnastics moves on the rings and trapeze. Some of these even have tightrope lines to walk across at the bottom.
For those with less space, get a pogo stick. While not a piece of gymnastics equipment, this is another great activity for balance and endurance. Make sure you get one built for their weight. Some are made for kids, but others can hold adults.
If they have room indoors, you can give them a practice mat. My mom used to use these in our basement for warm ups when she gave dance lessons. They were great for cushions under sleeping bags during sleepover parties too!
7. Gymnastics Christmas Ornament
Gymnastic gifts for Christmas stockings
Looking for some stocking stuffers? A Christmas ornament is a keepsake gift they will cherish years from now when they are no longer doing gymnastics. You can even have their name written on some of these.
With any sports or exercise, lips can get dried out. A keychain chapstick holder keeps lip balm nearby and ready to use. Some of these can be personalized too. As an extra stocking stuffer, give them some flavored chapstick.
Athletes often tape wrists or ankles to prevent injuries. While this may not seem like an exciting Christmas gift, you can spruce it up by getting athletic tape in their favorite color.
8. Water Bottle
Gymnastic gift ideas for the team
If you are a team mom or coach looking for gifts for the team, water bottles are a great gift. Reusable bottles are better for the environment and more cost effective than buying cases of disposable water bottles. Plus, if you get each team member a bottle with their name on it, they will always be able to tell which one is theirs.
One of my family members is a cheerleader. She uses a cooling towel to keep from getting overheated during practice. You can get different color cooling towels for the gymnastics team. Most come in their own carrying case.
You will also need to get some medals to commemorate their time on the team.
Of course, don’t forget to get a picture frame with a photo of the team as a coach gift.
9. Dance Mat
Gymnastic gifts for 9 year olds
At age nine, kids are starting to spend more time with friends. An interactive dance mat is a fun activity that builds up endurance and coordination for gymnastics. It can also be a fun party event. While you can get dance mats specifically for kids, I recommend these that are made for kids and adults. You don’t want them outgrowing it in a year. Plus, then you can use it with your friends too.
Kids at this age also enjoy making crafts to share with friends. A friendship bracelet kit will be a creative activity for them. They can even make bracelets to give to their pals on the gymnastics team.
Most kids this age are able to read chapter books with minimal help. The Perfect Balance Gymnastics series is a collection of age appropriate chapter books about a girl who loves gymnastics.
10. Hand Grips
Useful gift ideas for gymnasts
Hand grips help support the wrist, but they have another function. My son had a problem with his palms getting super sweaty, causing him to have difficulty gripping equipment. Hand grips circulate air to help keep hands dry. Speaking of keeping hands dry, don’t forget the chalk.
You can also give them rip stopper skin balm to help prevent blisters.
A training journal will help them keep track of scores at meets, provide details of their training sessions, and set goals.
11. School Backpack
Gymnastics accessories and gifts
If she lives for gymnastics, give her a themed backpack for school so she always has her first love with her.
For teens, get a gymnastics makeup bag. Even if they don’t wear much makeup, they can use it to keep extra toiletries, such as deodorant, to freshen up after practice.
If she has long hair, she will need some hair ties. You don’t want her hair whipping her in the face, making her lose her balance during her dismount.
12. Gymnastics Bedding
Gymnastic gifts for 10 year olds
At age ten, kids are becoming more independent. They are likely to want to decorate their room to reflect their personality, not mom’s. Start with a comfortable gymnastics themed bedding set.
Then add a 3D light for ambiance and an inspirational throw blanket for chilly nights.
13. Personalized Gymnastics Bag
Personalized gymnastics gifts
If you want to go that extra mile and get something super special, nothing tells someone how much they mean to you than a personalized gift. Get them a gymnastics bag for their gear with their name on it.
If you want to add to the themed bedroom decor, you can get a custom pillow or a cool wall decal with her name.
14. Gymnastics Necklace
Gymnastic gifts for an 11 year old
By eleven, girls are likely to start wearing more jewelry and wanting to emulate teens. They are also at an age where they hopefully take better care of their belongings. A delicate necklace with her name, initial, or birthstone makes a nice sentimental gift from a parent or godparent.
In addition to a necklace, you can also get a pair of earrings or a gymnastics bracelet.
15. Gymnastics Attire
Gifts for gymnastics lovers
Get some cute gymnastics outfits for her to wear to class.
T-shirts are also available for boys and girls.
Also, non slip grip socks will help their bare feet from slipping at any age.
