My neighbors, Greg and Paula, are huge Nascar fans. Every year they rent an RV and head down to the race in Homestead during the fall. They are usually gone for several days and meet up with friends to make a big event out of it.
I decided to find out from them what the best Nascar gifts are. Paula mentioned getting gifts based on favorite drivers, so I included some driver memorabilia and some driver themed gifts. However, Greg focused more on presents that are useful for watching the races. Between the two, I have come up with a variety of gifts, not just the stuff you will find on the official site.
1. Tickets to the Race
Best Nascar gifts
What is the best gift for a Nascar fan? Tickets to see a race, of course. Check to see when and where the closest race is available. If you don’t live in an area where races take place, you can make it part of a larger trip by including airfare and accommodations.
If that doesn’t seem feasible, get them a voucher for the Richard Petty Driving Experience. There are locations across the USA. This gives them the opportunity to actually race a car themselves! They will think you are an angel, because they will feel like they died and went to Heaven.
Greg said one of the best gifts is a race scanner to tune into the driver’s frequency and hear everything as if you are right there with him.
You can get a lanyard with their driver’s number to display their tickets and carry identification around on race day.
Also, you can have a custom tumbler made for them to keep them hydrated. Or, as my friends do, they can use the tumbler to keep mixed drinks cold.
2. Nascar Board Games
Gifts for Nascar lovers
If you can’t watch the races, play them. Whether it’s a DVD, dice, or a board game, these race day games will be a blast during family game night or a fun night with friends.
For gamers, choose one of these Nascar video games. Then they can experience the thrill of the race themselves. Make sure you get them one that is compatible with their gaming system, otherwise this gift will crash.
Or get them a cool jigsaw puzzle of cars racing around the track.
3. Nascar Coffee Mug
Nascar mugs and stuff
To keep alert, get race fans one of these mugs that look like tires, gear, or have a funny racing saying.
For the road, give them a themed tumbler. This is a great way to have their morning coffee while driving to a race. For beverages at home, give them a set of coasters. You can get one with their driver’s number, or get one with a sketch of a speedway track.
4. Cornhole
Fun gifts for Nascar fans
According to Greg, cornhole is a popular game that people play while tailgating on race weekends. You can also give them themed corn hole wraps and some Nascar beanbags to tailor the game for the race.
He also recommended a life size Jenga. These come with their own carrying case, making them easy to transport.
5. Collapsible Table
Tailgating Nascar gifts
For tailgating, they will need a pop up table. One with a cooler is ideal. This way they can keep drinks cold and have a place to put drinks and snacks.
Of course, they will need some place to sit. Camp chairs easily fold up for easy transport. Most will have drink holders and a side pouch for keys or phone.
It gets hot out there in the sun. A pop up canopy will be welcomed to protect them from the sun’s rays. You can get a basic tent or one that has attachable sizes to protect against rain. I used one of these for craft shows. You can even put one size down to block sun from that direction, while leaving the others pulled back for air circulation.
6. Mini Nascar Ornaments
Nascar Christmas gifts
Paula mentioned Nascar themed gifts she has gotten Greg in the past, such as a Christmas ornament with his favorite driver’s car.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy building their own Lego race car. This will give them something to do while waiting for guests to arrive on Christmas Day, or to keep busy during the holiday break.
Or get them some actual toy cars. Whether you get the kind that you pull back to activate, one with a remote control, or a manual car, these will get cheers when opened Christmas morning.
As with every popular sport, there are trading cards. Start a collection for them or add to one they already have. They will spend hours perusing these bits of memorabilia.
7. Portable Grill
Nascar gifts for Dad
While dad might have a gas grill with several burners and a smoker big enough to feed an army, he will need a portable grill for tailgating.
He will also need a set of grill utensils for cooking up those burgers and dogs.
Don’t forget a cooler with wheels. Trust me, a full cooler gets heavy after a while, even for the strongest guy. One with wheels makes transporting easy.
8. Autographed Photo
Gift ideas for Nascar fans
Every race fan will be proud to own an autographed photo of his favorite driver.
A diecast car is also a great piece of memorabilia for a collector.
For readers, there are plenty of amazing books for them to enjoy, such as driver biographies, history of Nascar, even coloring books to clear their mind. Some have funny titles such as He Crashed Me So I Crashed Him Back.
9. Nascar Mailbox Decal
Unique Nascar gifts
Fans of Chase Elliot or Alex Bowman will get a kick out of having one of these unusual mailbox covers. Some of these mailbox decals can be made into personalized Nascar gifts by adding the recipient’s name. Or get them a day bag to carry their gear around. You can get this for Kyle Larson fans too.
For the home, give them an LED race car light. These make great night lights for kids who are racing fans.
For unique gifts for teens who live on their phones, give them a checkered flag phone case.
10. Nascar Pint Glass
Nascar gifts for him
He will love drinking a brew in his driver’s honor from a pint glass displaying his favorite driver’s number.
Does he prefer something stronger? Then get him a flask with his driver’s number on it.
For a funny gift give him a novelty beer hat.
Of course, if he is drinking a beer from a can or bottle he will need a coozie to keep it cold.
What to wear on race day? A Nascar shirt, what else?
11. Speedway Wall Art
Nascar gifts for the home
To keep the memories of the races alive in between events, get them some Nascar wall art to display on their living room walls.
Then for chilly nights, give them a Nascar throw blanket to cuddle up with on the couch or bed. If you give them a race themed throw pillow too, they will be all set for a nap.
